Matariki

The Star cluster known as Matariki rises during the cold months of winter, usually between the start of May and the beginning of June. The 7 stars are cool. The stars represent the Maori new year.

If you want to see the 7 stars you have to wake up early in the morning. You can’t see all 500 stars but you can see the 7 stars clearly.

The couple of month just before the rising was the season when Maori would harvest their food. The Maori gather food so it can be naffer for everyone to eat some food.
